Technology, we meet again

I have to take technology classes as part of my teacher training, and in this, my 2nd class on the subject, we were encouraged to pick a technology project that would challenge us and be something new.  I originally set out to learn some flash animation.  Found out the program to create them is something like $500, but my master’s class computer lab has Adobe Professional CS3(the program in question) on it, so I can work there.  After messing around with it for a few hours tonight I think I would have to live there for the next 2 weeks to get something workable out of it.  Then I could never modify it again anyway.  We have an online tutorial website(called atomiclearning, although it is a pay website) that is pretty good but the program seems to be designed to be the next level for those who have been messing around with photoshop for quite some time, which I most definitely have not been.

So, I am changing my project so that it is now powerpoint based, but will still accomplish the same things I was going for.  Namely, it is designed to be a tutorial on how to set up a simple graph using excel.  To do this I need to image capture excel, which I am also not sure how to do.  Atomic learning mentioned a free powerpoint download called producer or something, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for how I can take various pictures of the steps I would take to make an excel graph?

I also think I might take a flash animation class next summer if I can find one at the community college.

I know you can select cells or graphs in excel, copy them, and paste them into a powerpoint slide no problem. Or do a print screen and paste it into powerpoint.

Turns out powerpoint producer was perfect for this job. Producer is a free download and is supposed to be a flash animation like program, but it has a capture wizard that works beautifully on still images among many other items I didn’t need to use this time. Add in some animations to my powerpoint and it took 2.5 hours to finish my major project. Print screen probably would have worked as well, but I’m not sure if you can crop it down and see enough detail. Plus, now I learned to use a new program a bit, which was kind of the point of this assignment. Thanks for the suggestions.
